Summary
George and Lennie are best friends. They go on a journey to try to find a job and save enough money until they can fulfill their dream, which is getting a place for themselves and also getting to work for themselves. So, George and Lennie meets the boss of the place they are going to work at. Thy first job they get is hauling barley. George and Lennie are forced to sleep in a bunker with the other workers, which aren't the greatest of conditions. Later on, Lennie gets a dog for himself, so that he could have a companion, but because he is so strong, he accidentally kills the dog. He tries to bury the dog, but Curley's wife comes in and she see Lennie. Lennie didn't want Curley's wife to scream, so he tries to cover her mouth, but in doing so he suffocates her. Then, he runs to the place George told him to if he ever got in any trouble, which is a spot next to the lake. The workers make a mob to find and kill Lennie, but George gets to him first. George tries to calm Lennie down by talking about their dream, then takes a gun and shoots Lennie in the head. George shot Lennie, so that he would die peacefully, instead of agony.
